NOTE:  We will be closed Thursday, July 4, 2019 for the holiday.

Due Date:

Monday, September 16, 2019; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Postmarks and check dates are not accepted as the date for on-time payment.  Allow 5 to 7 days for your payment to reach us by September 16, 2019.

Payment Method:

The Township accepts only cash or check for payment.

There is a secure drop box at the entrance to the town hall.  You may make tax payments 24/7.

Paying by Check:

Make your check(s) for the exact amount of the tax bill.

Check(s) will be returned to taxpayer if amount is incorrect.  Please double check the written amount and the numerical amount to make sure they agree. Payment is recognized and applied upon receipt.

Interest and Penalty:

One percent (1%) interest is levied on unpaid real and personal property taxes starting Tuesday, September 17, 2019.  An additional 1% will be levied on the first of very month thereafter for unpaid taxes.

Taxpayers w/Mortgages:

We send a tax bill to all taxpayers and mortgage companies.  If you have a mortgage company, they will pay your taxes. You will need the tax bill (you received) for filing income tax.

Update Mailing Address:

By law, failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve you of the obligation to pay on time.  Changing your voter registration information does not update tax records.

Summer Deferments:

Under MCL (Michigan Compiled Law) 211.51, property taxpayers may defer payment of summer taxes on their principal residence until February 14, 2020, if their household income for the preceding calendar year did not exceed $40,000 and they are:

- 62 years old or older, including the unmarried surviving spouse of a person who was 62 years of age or older at the time of death

- A paraplegic, hemiplegic, or quadriplegic

- An eligible serviceperson, eligible veteran, or their eligible widow or widower

- A blind person

- A totally and permanently disabled person

- Property that is classified or used as agricultural property may qualify if the gross receipts of the agricultural or horticultural operation in the previous year (or the average gross receipts for such operations in the previous three years) are not less than the household income of the owner for the preceding calendar year.

The deadline to file the deferment form is September 16, 2019.  Forms are available at the township office and on the township website (www.aureliustwp.org).  Call the township at (517) 628-2093 if you have any questions.
