AURELIUS TOWNSHIP PLANNING COMMISSION

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

TO:      All Interested Persons:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a public hearing will be held before the Aurelius Township Planning Commission on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Aurelius Township Hall, 1939 S. Aurelius Road, Mason, Michigan 48854 to consider amendment of the Aurelius Township Zoning Ordinance, summarized as follows:

Chapter 16, Article III, Division 1, Section 16-184, “Scope of Regulations,” to add Subsection (6) prohibit any enterprise, land use, or activities which are violative of state or local laws or ordinances; to prohibit any condition that constitutes a hazard to health, welfare or safety, or blight, to prohibit the presence of junk and debris; and to prohibit commercial marihuana and/or commercial medical marihuana activities in any district.

Chapter 16, Article III, Division 1, Section 16-184, “Scope of Regulations,” to add Subsection (7) to confirm that commercial medical marihuana facilities or commercial medical marihuana activities operating or purporting to operate prior to December 15, 2017, shall not be deemed to have been a legally existing use nor shall the operation of such marihuana facility or use be deemed a legal nonconforming use and a property owner shall not have vested rights or nonconforming use rights for commercial medical marihuana activities that would serve as a basis for failing to comply with Ordinance 39 or any amendment thereto.

A copy of the proposed Zoning Ordinances amendments’ full text and Tables are available for public inspection at the office of the Township Clerk at the address set forth above and may be inspected during regular business hours.

All interested persons are invited to attend and participate in the public hearing.  If you are unable to attend, written comments concerning the proposed amendments received before the close of the public hearing will also be considered.
