Winter 2009 Tax Payments and Extra Office Hours:

Winter Tax bills were mailed by December 1, 2009.  Payments are due on February 16, 2010.  In addition to our regular office hours, the township office will also be open February 16, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. to accept tax payments. After 5 p.m. on February 16, the 2009 winter taxes are subject to a 3% penalty. Payments submitted by mail must be postmarked no later than Tuesday, February 9, 2010 in order to be received and posted prior to the penalty date (MCL 211.44b).

Delinquent Taxes (2-week grace period):

The Township Office will be open Tuesday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and on Monday, March 1 (9 a.m. - 5 p.m.) to accept delinquent taxes with a 3% penalty. Payments submitted by mail must be postmarked by Monday, February 22, 2010 in order to be recieved prior to the deadline, March 1, 2010.

NO PAYMENT MAY BE ACCEPTED AT THE TOWNSHIP AFTER THIS TIME (MCL 211.44, 211.45,211.54).

Penalties & Interest 2009/2010 Tax Year:

Summer Tax Bills: 1% interest beginning September 16 and 1st of every month thereafter

Winter Tax Bills:    3% penalty on February 17, 2010

Delinquent Taxes Turned Over to Ingham County on March 2:              

On March 2, 2010 taxes become delinquent and are turned over to the County Treasurer for collection at which time the County’s penalties apply. Call 676-7220 for interest/penalty and total amount owing on delinquent taxes.  Make checks payable to Eric Schertzing, Treasurer, PO Box 215, Mason, MI  48854.
